tv network airs most of my favorite movies.....and fulci
Would you believe there is a television network that does a Fulci marathon? I think it's great, but I realize there is a divine touch in this, not just a mad grab at the viewer cash, but an actual vision at work! I mean, it probably does make some kind of business sense: modest returns while showing films that are cheap to run. Thoughts?

Re: tv network airs most of my favorite movies.....and fulci
fakemorris notwithstanding, I'll say this: since coming here I've seen things. When I came here initially I was a Romero and Sergio Leone fanboy. Since then, I've seen Bergman, Sergio Corbucci, Kurosawa, Elia Kazan, more of Orson Welles and, by crackie, Lucio frigging Fulci.
I did see Riki-O. I chuckled along with the superhuman exploits of the protagonist.
Last film I saw was Five Deadly Venoms. Shaw Brothers kungfu weirdness.
Last film I saw that I liked was The Black Cat. It has a thin connection to the EA Poe story, of course, and fine tense acting by Patrick McGee. This is a Fulci effort, so there is his encoded weirdness in the film...

Re: tv network airs most of my favorite movies.....and fulci
over the weekend lots of good flicks aired. I forsook a repeat viewing of fritz lang's metropolis to watch rasslin'. However, the cold, dim proletariat vision of the future is with me, in my heart. I always felt the film really stood out in set design more than anything else. Visionary stuff-like frank lloyd wright turning to the dark side.
Also, got john carpenter's the thing on dvr, which is a remake, however a sufficiently different, stand-alone vision, coldwar paranoia and kurt russell at their peak, with ennio morricone contributing to the film score. Wilford Brimley taking a villianous turn: worth the price of admission.
Also: lately have been thinking of the Hills Have Eyes(1977), and the remake. May have something to see here or on blog about that one. The original has always gotten more credit from me than anyone else, as if I have a soft spot for it. A favorite 'tater chips in the dark' festival film. Its arguably a stretch by writer/director Craven, debateably successful. I argue yes, the film works, but I may be the only one....
also: i'm looking to talk fulci in the horror room.

runboard blog re-activated. will post some film stuff. Idk; some folk like to hear a crazy man talk about movies.
