Re: Eleven new pictures from the set of Dawn remake!!!!
Oops, I misunderstood your interpretation of the sign abaddon. But yeah, that's another way of looking at it.
I can make out that it reads Hallowed Grounds, I can see an "S" in there for different kinds of ground coffee they serve.

Re: Eleven new pictures from the set of Dawn remake!!!!
Yeah. I still want to believe that the pic is a message regarding the ignorance of the remake's creators and the quality of the remake. Wouldn't a good photographer take a step to the right to get the full title of the cafe in frame(hell, it confused me, I didn't have any idea what kind of store it was)?

Re: Eleven new pictures from the set of Dawn remake!!!!
I think youre both very right in the argument raised by the Hallowed Ground picture. I now finally understand your point s on the point picture. It does say something but the photographer was not a photographer but probably someone who sneaked on the set, I think that's pretty obvious by the angle s of the first two pictures.
Dawn 2004 is a different film to what we got in 1978; the similarities with the original film are still here though, weve have Zombies and a shopping mall. Because this film is horror, the producers think they have a right to remake it. Now if the studios decided to remake Star Wars (Lucas wouldn't allow it) I'm sure that there would moral outcry, you see everyone knows the star Wars trilogy; it has a huge fan base, if someone mentioned the remake people would try to kill Lucas. Dawn of the Dead is different it's horror meaning you have to be 18 or whatever to watch it. Dawn of the Dead has a massive cult following but I don't see anyone trying to kill Rubinstein. People want to see this film, but if I could do one thing - that would be just to change the !@#$ name.
The one thing that have pissed me off more recently is that the Special-edition DVD of Dawn has been delayed till next year, ohhh..I wonder why? Common sense made Anchor delay the DVD. The concept of marketing is money, when Anchor Bay releases the special edition DVD, the remake will be out in the cinema. Greedy ba$tards I see a bunch off assholes coming to forum like this in spring next year. Sorry for yapping too much.

Re: Eleven new pictures from the set of Dawn remake!!!!
I'm afraid the dawn remake will be very sad. I'm afraid it just will be one of those other zombie gore like night of the zombies etc. I don't hope so, but what I think is that zombie movies should be made in the 70s and 80s. With that style of that time it would be great. I think in this time it isn't possible any more.
But who knows it will become a great movie.

Re: Eleven new pictures from the set of Dawn remake!!!!
Debates on stuff like this are stupid. So, there were good films in the 70's and 80's but there have been some excellent films in more recent years to.
The original Dawn was made in a time where US-Fordism was at the extreme; the American president at the time put strain on a lot of people, he in some ways made Dawn of the Dead what it is. Consumerism in tough times whether there's zombies on your back or not. This new Dawn might also use a similar backdrop that you won't realize; A greedy George Bush, terrorism, war in iraq etc.
Remakes have many flaws, people have told me look at the Psycho remake; it didn't work. This new film called Dawn of the Dead isn't a remake at all but a totally new story set in a shopping mall with a few hundred zombies.
Bio-Zombie a Japanese film was set in a shopping mall with zombies, except the makers didnt choose to call it Dawn of the Dead.

Re: Eleven new pictures from the set of Dawn remake!!!!
Along with feelings that the HALLOWED GROUNDS coffee shop is a wicked example of social satire. I'm now thinking that the "Bloated Woman" sign in the window of the trailer is for the actress who plays the pregnant woman in the script who's baby turns into a zombie and eats her. I'm guessing that she probably looked so funny walking around the set with the prosthetic belly that the crew all gave her that nick-name.

Re: Eleven new pictures from the set of Dawn remake!!!!
The Bloated Woman and her hungry zombie baby sounds like a deleted scene from Fulci's Zombie. That's sick !@#$.
Any political/economic commentaries implied in a newer zombie flick would have to acknowledge GWB's opposition as a third member in the conflict. I think Romero's concept for Dawn has seen it's day. It made interesting turmoil, but today's landscape is vastly different. Dawn was, after all, made before the US came to know Reaganomics and we had yet to feel the sting of the North American Free Trade Agreement. The USSR was still strong. The Simpsons probably hadn't been invented yet.
Of course, consumer mindlessness is still all too common.

Re: Eleven new pictures from the set of Dawn remake!!!!
Yes, a baby which eats the mother is definitly Fulci !@#$.
And they can put some new satire in the movie, satire of what's going on today, Bush, Iraq etc. But maybe they just choose the story, to remake the story and don't put any satire in it.
Now there is a remake of night, and the remake of dawn is on the way. Maybe there will come a day remake with the original script! Who knows.

Re: the original Day screenplay
DAMN RIGHT!
But would Romero want that to be done? If Dead 4 ever gets off the ground, he might not. If the original Day ever finds its way to film, it would best be after Dead 4 is unleashed on the public. Some content or subtext from the original Day may have been recycled for the Dead 4 script.
