Re: Do 'They' Live? ---A place of independent thought and opinions.

Check this out: [sign in to see URL] a website dedicated to proving that the US gov't committed 911, and the eagle-eyed folk on that site are currently pouring over much evidence to make a theory in regards to how exactly the evil American democratic establishment did this.

But it looks like a maze of video anomolies and circumstances that lead to any number of shocking but contradictory conclusions. I describe it as a revolting nest of would-be or will-be terrorists that manage to justify America's vigilence in the "War On Terror". Otherwise, all is well at the end of another long day. EGADS.

However, a television program was aired recently about a security advisor in a financial firm based in the ole WTC. The man, along with a group of private consultants, predicted an attack from the sky because the building was 1)a high-profile target 2)previously attacked with a bomb in the lower quarters. Perhaps they figured terrorists would use a fresh approach to increase terror effectiveness. Simple logic yielded a fateful prediction, and the man that tried to warn everyone died when the buildings fell because he was busy trying to evacuate his co-workers.

Anyways. Double egads for the deceased security advisor.

These anomalies are interesting but it's best to dismiss them, for reasons of saving sanity.

About the doc you saw. I think I saw that too about around the same time as the 4th anniversary of the attacks. Was it called "The man who predicted 9/11”?

Correct. But my sanity cannot be saved. The show really put the whole incident back into context for me, reminding me of the sick feeling that I had as I saw thousands of people die on 9/11.

I wonder if the terrorists have finally realized that their victims aren't faceless people to be wasted in pursuit of political goals? Could that be the reason there hasn't been an attack in several years?

Stands back, eyes open, gawps. Civilization, that being western is doomed. Reading through this will explain why there are fools who believe in the sh*t that spews out of Mr Icke's mouth. Social decline means vulnerables! Yes, we're falling. Falling and we never realised it. Hope this link prepares you for the coming peril that is staring us in the face. The dark ages are a coming! emoticon

This deserves a blog entry Mr Morris, PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THEIR ALL DOOMED emoticon

For me, living in this sh*thole called once called "Great" Britain it makes a whole lot of sense. This country, oh boy, if only you knew. Believe me, it STINKS. Hope it isn't so bad for you. emoticon

Yes, yes. The next roleplay... I would like to use something like this in the next one. It reminds me of the 911 conspiracies, that being a thesis statement with "supporting data".

And everyone said that we're on the threshold on the information [sign in to see URL].

Mad Alex OR Day of the Pink Bicycle.

BTW: House Of The Dead 2 made it's television debut here last week. Happy days.

[sign in to see URL] are right, the site is quite theoretical. Still, living in Britain right now, if you knew, seriously, the country is in the pits. No respect, no alternative political party, wider gap between rich and poor, no decent paid work, huge costs in housing, high levels in taxes etc, etc, [sign in to see URL] decline. But you don't live here, so you wouldn't understand. For me, a lot of the points raised on the site made sense. You CAN compare one civilization with another, and see the similarities, especially in times of social and economic decline. However, just because we live in this age of uncertainty, doesn't mean it'll fall apart tomorrow.
That film Clockwork Orange was a kind of precursor to the age of Britain as it is now, with gangs running amok beating people up, political experiments and spin - essentially, Clockwork Orange is very close to reality for many Britons today, minus the ludaviko treatment.

My generation is one lost, where we no longer have the security and stability which was there 30+ years ago. In the UK, social decline is here, fact – Economic decline, apparently coming. And politics, yeah…er…can I say dead?

Again, it depends where you live Mike. I don’t know much about where you’re from so wouldn’t know how you’re fairing up. You may have it good and live in a condo or penthouse, or not -and live in one of those trailor parks. emoticon

The guy who did the website has also done a free book which is available somewhere on the link above – here’s a chapter worthy of a read [sign in to see URL]~[sign in to see URL]

Societies in the ascendant
Learning and academic knowledge promoted
Religious sentiment positive and in-worldly
Labour-intensive art using costly materials
Moral certainty
Admiration and striving for excellence
Commitment to community

Societies in decline
Education restricted and scholarship lost
Religion pessimistic and out-worldly
Cheapening of materials and of labour input in art
Introspection and relativism
Cynicism
Lack of community spirit

Ahh, maybe it depends on how one defines "dark age".

I define our present age as one in which communication is exceedingly easy, but with this ability society is developing new eccentricities. For most of the world's citizens, they haven't realized that they can be heard for many a mile so they don't take the time to choose their words. Given time, this will change.

As for economics, I believe it's dead in the US and UK. Some sort of "fiscal revolution" will be necessary in coming years. We cannot settle for being a marketplace, unless everyone in these two nations decides to be the homeless people that live behind the shops.

I also understand that the issues of the day are slighly different in the US and UK. Recently I heard about UK satellites that watch the homes of UK citizens to ensure that taxable stuff was [sign in to see URL] so it was said.... Such a thing would not pass in America. Then again, try Google Earth.

I also think the age depicted in Clockwork Orange would be transitional, mostly because of the political partisionship which, however feeble, managed to keep debate alive.

As for the table from the book, I see each of those traits in America today. I'm not entirely concerned by them, because history is full of societies that did terrible things. Why cry for them? There has been inequality of all sorts, even in America, and I take America as an example of a nation that has established a golden standard of equality. However, America has ALWAYS(though it's usually not aware of it) been in crisis because of how it interprets the standard. And the interpretation has slowly evolved. America's capacity for change, however slowly, is it's strength.

Anyway, that was my TL3 time for today. I'm going to go to bed now. And cry.

Alright that's fair.

Okay, the next roleplay with the end of western civilization scenario I've been mulling over [sign in to see URL] want to set up a website so we'll have more hits coming into the forum. As for the forum btw, we'll need a new one cause this one will look weird to new visitors with 'Dead Rekindled' references all over the place, and that site is dead anyways.
5ive easy rules (need rewording) etc....
1. The roleplay will be as though each of the players are part of a pact or community living in the aftermath of world destruction. Think Max Max.
2. Posts MUST be written as though in the form descriptive and speech text (together) - just like a chapter in a book.
[sign in to see URL] word count of 1000 per post.
[sign in to see URL] users must trawl through and read previous posts to understand the story and characters before posting.
[sign in to see URL] an understanding of the scenario each new user must do some research, try the dark ages site.
[Mike, can you think of any more rules?]
[sign in to see URL] dungeons and dragon geeks? Humour/satire/parody is encouraged. Try think some up, because it's important.

To open up the roleplay we also need a sort opening introduction of how things came to be in this world (this will be on the very small website, either in flash, graphic or text). Could it be that the Daily Mirror's worst case scenario has come true? And what if in this world that the world's superpower has become china? Do the community face the constant onslaught of China men and religiously fanatical Iranians?
Can you please summarise that Mike (300-600 words max)?

The name, what shall this roleplay be called?
Here are some cheesy examples...
Dark Age
The End
Wild West #2
Civilization Zero
Mad Alex VS 1bl China men
Again, if you could come up with something that'll be great. Something catchy.

Lastly, I had to edit the post to make it as clear as possible in regards as to what I/We do not want.

Hope you get my gist.

^^Am I the only one who finds this sort of stuff lame. Maybe we aren't roleplayers, but rather creative writers? If anything we need this to be as serious as possible, with clumps of Satire and Humour thrown in. God, these people. Goblins, [sign in to see URL]'s the reason I refuse to watch any of the Lord of the Rings movies. It's just er, lame. Again.

Laters,
Alex

Yeah. I don't like D&D. It seems more like "life replacement" than fun. Rather than roleplay, we could call this Co-operative Writing or something.

TL4: Mad Alex And The Dark Age At The End Of Western Civilization. MAATDAATEOWC.

In the interest of pi**ing off everyone, let's say that Iran extorts China with it's stockpile of materials that could be used for nuclear activities. Then only a few randomly selected third world nations are spared Iran's paranoia. Among those third world nations is the Nazi colony on Antartica, which hasn't been nearly as prosperous as was planned. China's turbulent relationship with Iran manages to hinder the nation's growth, but doesn't stop them from indoctrinating surrounding countries into it's new brand of Totally Inoffensive Communism. Iran and China plan a joint venture to develop the African continent into a massive Eutopian society that is completely self-sustaining, save for it's sickening thirst for Iranian oil and Chinese restaurants.

Then again, perhaps it's best not to focus on the particulars, but rather simply say that the Dark Age is here. The Chi-ranian Age.

The rules look okay. Add to rule 1: post must be on topic. No LOL's in the story section. Perhaps there could be a LOL section. Rules 4 and 5 could be combined, perhaps directing newbies to acclimate themselves to the story by reading the story posts, relevant information/links, and maybe doing independant research(because they might find something new). Which brings to mind another point about organization: place relevant background info in the story's directory, as here we have the Role Playing Stories section with everything relevant included in the directory. With the new site, why not make one section for say TL5, and in it include the story thread, another thread for information, another for brainstorming, another for brief character notes and so on. Make it easy for newbies. Perhaps you've thought of this already....

Of course, the site could called something absurd like The Uwe Boll And New Dark Age Fansite Allied Against Future President Rick Moranis.

Here is a link to the Scribes messageboard. It's geared towards writing. I just found it by accident, and I believe it's layed out quite nicely.
