THREAD: Which movie have you just seen and how was it?

TCM 2 & 3, both good horror flicks.

I've seen a few decent movies this last week: Barton Fink, Prozac Nation, and Mindhunters.

First off, the Coen brothers ‘Barton Fink,’ which was great in many ways, from the characters, to the story itself. I recommend - very funny. [sign in to see URL]

Prozac Nation, I read the book and can say that the film is quite close but didn't have the same affect on me. It's an honest and truthful account of someone going through mental illness. [sign in to see URL]

Mindhunters - This was okay, but not great. I'm sure Stefan you'd like it for the 'gore' anyway. Not the best who-dunnit thriller, but still worthy of my approval. Watch out for Christian Slater's [sign in to see URL]'s nasty. [sign in to see URL]

I've heard about Mindhunters yes. I've also heard some of the scenes have been filmed in Holland. A friend of mine saw it. I like Slater so I'm gonna check this one out.

I've just seen Puppet Master. I only bought it because I own the 2nd and the 3th part. And because there was a scene when a guy shot himself into the mouth but this was more laughable than realistic. Ow man, believe me, PM 1 and 2 are as boring as hell. Part 3 is very good instead.

TCM 2, the memories..

Cold Mountain-It's romance. If I had known how much of a romance the film really was, I wouldn't have watched it. Bah. On the other hand, Jude Law managed to sound like my neighbors.

Frailty-Funny stuff. Bill Paxton sees demons, southern gothic style. I think the characters were unfairly "written-out" at various points in the film.

Mystic River-A very good film. The end of the movie is disgusting.

Mystic River - I loved this film, admittedly yes it was kind of sick in points yes, though I really felt for Tim Robbins’ character. It was really sad to see him get wasted by Penn's character even though he hadn't done anything except help someone in need. Clint Eastwood’s best directorial achievement in my opinion.

You should also check out Tim Robbins’ in a new film called Code 46.

If Penn's character hadn't murdered that "Just Ray" fellow, his daughter might haved lived, too. What really disgusted me about the end of Mystic River was only one scene: Penn's character almost regrets what he did, but then his wife consoles him..."you did what you had to do". I'm glad that an editor didn't cut that scene, though the film could've done well without it. Disgusting.

The Battle of Shaker Heights: The local video store considers this movie to be a new release. This is good for a laugh or two, as the film explores teen angst(always a loaded subject).

Salem's Lot: This may scare an unimaginative child. I really did not like this movie save for one part: James Mason and the uber-vampire taunt a priest. Stephen King obviously felt some sort of sympathy for the priest as the character was recycled for inclusion in the fifth Dark Tower book.

I've just seen the movie Creature. I saw the DVD in store so I decided to buy it. Weak story, good effects but the whole movie didn't make any sense.

Yesterday I saw Dead or Alive from Miike Takashi. This was mentioned on the box:

WARNING: This motion picture contains explicit portrayals of violence; sex; violent sex; sexual violence; clowns and violent scenes of violent excess, which are definitely not suitable for all audiences.

But it wasn't that shocking, more funny than shocking. It was boring, too bad.
