Cabin Fever

Does anyone knows this movie? I've seen it and I must say it was pretty cool yes.

Any thoughts?

Re: Cabin Fever

This film features a bit of the soundtrack from Last House On The Left. Very odd.

Actually, I once intended to review this one on my site, but I've never gotten around to doing it.

I appreciate the fact that all of the teens in this film are bad. There is no sympathetic character, only a main character. The film's dysmal conclusion is covered with humor. Neat-o, as we say in America. We are left with the supreme consideration, because we're all idiots and doomed to deaths that befit our ignorance, but wait, this is only comedy?

In this movie there are a lot of things which are pretty unclear:

- Dennis and his weird pankakes
- the box
- where the disease came from
- what the dog made so agressive

All kinds of things which aren't explained, weird.

I don't recall the box or the pancakes.

The dog was possibly infected with the disease, but I know that this isn't stated in the film. I was trying to think if there were other animals in the film, and I remember the deer. Was the deer infected? In rural America, there are many instances of cars being demolished by deer that simply wander onto the road. There have also been occasions in which a deer's legs get into the vehicle and they people get mauled by them. Does this film portray animals as being insane, or are they all infected? Perhaps I'll check for a commentary track on the DVD, and hope the answer is there.

I also wonder what the details of this disease are.

I heard the R1 DVDs has four or five commentary tracks and also a 30 mins long making-off.

The R2 DVD has no commentary tracks. And a making-off but it's also 5 mins long. Man, R2 releases suck!

I heard there is gonna be a sequel which will be released in 2006. It will have Rider Strong and I heard a witch in the woods heals him emoticon

Healed by a witch in the woods...

Maybe the witch started the infection.

I'm glad that there will be a sequel, because I think the original is unfocused. Is it horror or comedy? Does it comment on society? Perhaps political ideology? The sequel should help the original make better sense.

But in this movie, I must say honestly, I didn't care much for social comments. I go for the gore emoticon

I really liked the end. I thought that guy was a racist but he wasn't emoticon

It's a strange film. Cabin Fever is, in part, an unofficial tribute to Last House On The Left. It has the gore, humor, sex, and shows that the world is insecure. This is a good formula. Hopefully the sequel will show twice as much!

When I saw the old guy meeting the black folks, I remembered what he said earlier about the gun emoticon ......too funny. emoticon

The sequel will be released in 2006 I read.

By the way, I noticed the effects were done by Nicotero. Do they mean Greg from Day?

I also tought the movie refered to TCM. Because of the aggressive people which chased Bert after they heard he was infected. Just like a weird family only now there is no-one with a chainsaw...

I wonder, for how much can you buy the DVDof this movie in the stores in the US? Here in Holland is was first for €15,- , now for inly €10,-...

Re: Cabin Fever

It never occured to me that the family in Cabin Fever is similar to those in TCM, but I think the similarity isn't intended.

Our prices vary, but I would guess that I could buy this DVD for either 15 or 20 dollars. I'll be renting the Dawn remake DVD tommorrow and while at the store I'm going to rent Cabin Fever(so I can check the commentary).

The Nicotero you mentioned is probably Greg Nicotero. There are other Nicoteros in the film industry, but not in special effects(that I'm aware of).
