Re: Zombie gore

Sorry about asking you to look it up, Stefan. I found at IMDB. The site has a review wrote by an American. Here's a link to a movie 'rental' site which claims to have the movie. I gather that this film was once released in the U.S. in VHS format.

Today I've bought the dvd of Fulci's Zombie (it's called Zombie 2 on the cover)for 10 euros
I've watched the movie, too be [sign in to see URL] was ok. The eyeball scene was a scene which should be deleted according to me but the rest was good. Especially when they blow heads of zombies away with a stick or something, very nasty, the headshots were a bit dissapointing: I was hoping for more splatters. Fulci's style of zooming in on gory things was a bit annoying. Some actions were so unrealistic. For example don't move when a zombie comes. In day of the dead soldiers get caught while the were running for their lives and this was more realistic.
The dvd extras were not the best. Of course there was a trailer, filmography and chapter selection but no behind the scenes, too bad. The entire soundtrack was on the dvd, but I don't really care for it. This should happen with the dawn dvd, the entire soundtrack.
And what do the rest think of this gory Italian movie from Fulci?
By the way, anyone of you have seen zombie 3/ 4? Was it good?

The eyeball splatter scene and the shark-fighting scene are my favorites from this movie. The rest of it is a voodoo-cursed mess. A few shots of NYC begin and end the film, but what else goes on other than unseen natives banging on drums? The DVD I watched had several theatrical and euro-TV trailers, radio advertisements, and chapter selection. I wish there had been a featurette on the special effects.

Well, about the special effects, I must admit, they weren't that much. Ok, it was funny sometimes, when a zombie came through the window and another guy first give him a blow to his face with a showel and after this he smashed off the top of the skull so you can see his [sign in to see URL]! emoticon Or when the smashed the whole skull of the cover zombie:

By the way, weird that a 400 years dead Spanish soldier still have red blood in his body. Shouldn't this have been dry up over the years. Pretty nasty and cool effects but not very realistic. The movie won't be ever better than dawn or day. In dawn and day were better effects of course. Only the make up in Zombie was better than in dawn. In dawn and day there was a plot which interested me. In Zombie I didn't give a damn about the plot. And in the beginning there was too much about the plot. Zombie was just a movie which shouldn't have a plot. It was tried to give the movie a plot but this was only annoying.

Re: Zombie gore

Fulci's zombies look good, but are not realistic. I think Zombie was made just for shock-value. When I watched the film, I wondered why these 400-year-old corpses hadn't rotted into potting soil, given the temperature and humidity of the islands.

Also, how does the drums on the island effect New York City?
ANSWER: THE DRUMS DO NOT EFFECT NEW YORK CITY. Fulci couldn't think of any other excuse for the dead to rise. The way I understand it, reports about actual Voodoo zombies don't describe the undead as flesh-eaters. Apparently zombies are used primarily as cheap labor, working on farms.

By the way, in Zombie 3, does this movie have the same people or are they new. And what about the story, is it really after Zombie 2 so when New York was under attack or is it just a new storyline, anyone know this?

Zombie 3 has a new cast, and mainly takes place in a jungle and not really themed in New York, but i believe there may have been 1 or 2 shots..

About Zombie Holocaust, you said Peter West from Zombie was in it. Is Peter West back or just the actor now playing someone else?
About Nightmare City, has also sex I heard. Can you say it's also more a porn movie then a zombie movie, the same as Zombie Lake?
